The US Center for Chinese Medicine (USCCM) by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine held a seminar and a public lecture on special tuina and acupuncture for treating emotional disorders and children’s disorders on April 27th and 28th at its Rockville, Maryland, campus. Renowned Professor Fu Guobing, director of the Department of Tuina and Physiotherapy, Dongfang Hospital of BUCM, and Dr. Richard C. Niemtzow, father of medical acupuncture in the U.S. Armed Forces, gave special lectures to the gathered students.
On March 28th, Kurt Newman, President of Children’s National Health System of the United States, together with his delegation visited BUCM and signed a memorandum of cooperation. Present at the signing ceremony were Wang Xiaopin, Director of International Department, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM), Lu Yexin, Director of Asia-America Multilateral Division, International Department, SATCM, Song Zhihang, Project Manager of Division of American and Australasian Affairs, Bureau of International Cooperation, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Xu Anlong, BUCM President, and Zhang Liping, BUCM Presidential Assistant & Executive Vice Dean of Graduate School, and heads of relevant BUCM administrative departments and affiliated hospitals.

On the morning of Oct. 31, 2018, BUCM President Xu Anlong, Prof. Lu Tao, Deputy Dean of the BUCM School of Life Sciences, and Director of the BUCM US Center for Chinese Medicine visited Children’s National Health System in Washington, U.S. at its invitation. The BUCM delegation was received by officers of the hospital including Kurt Newman, President and CEO, Robin Steinhorn, M.D., Senior Vice President of Center for Hospital Based Specialties, and Xiaoyan Song, Director of Infection Control/Epidemiology.

Seminar on acupuncture and herbs for infertility treatment was held on Aug 25-26 at US Center for Chinese Medicine by BUCM. Outstanding gynecologist Prof. Biqin Wang from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, well-known TCM gynecologist Prof. Ming Jin from New York and andrology expert Prof. Yaosheng Zhang from BUCM gave lessons at the seminar. American reproduction, endocrinology and infertility specialist Dr. Frank E Chang came to communicate with TCM experts and invited them to visit Shady Grove Fertility Center. Acupuncturists from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Massachusetts attended the seminar.

On March 4, 2018, the US Center for Chinese Medicine by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (USCCM-BUCM) successfully held a seminar on Seasonal Allergy Treatment. The lecture was given by Dr.Rongsheng Lin, a renowned acupuncturist and seasonal allergy expert working in New York. Dr. Lin has attracted more than sixty acupuncturists and Traditional Chinese Medicine amateurs that from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Northern Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The lecture was certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

On the morning of October 29th, an inaugural ceremony commemorating the establishment of the School of Life Sciences was held on Liangxiang campus.
